Cold Weather Animals in Primary One

8th Feb 2016

We are currently learning about cold weather animals in Primary One. We have been looking at animals found in The Arctic & Antarctic such as the polar bear, seals, snowy owls and arctic foxes. These animals are very interesting and we have learned lots of exciting facts! They are totally different to the animals that can be found here in Ireland. We have made some beautiful art work such as fluffy polar bears and little penguins.

This week we will be doing some fact finding about different types of penguins. We are very excited!! We will use books, pictures, the iPad and our class computer to help us on this mission.

Our teacher has set up an exciting polar area that we use during dramatic play. It has an igloo, an ice pond where we fish for fresh fish and an open fire where we can cook our fish for dinner! We love getting dressed up in the polar outfits and we also have lots of animal face masks for role-play. This topic is very exciting!
